Abstract

Business behaviour is always changing. Among the more recent trends that organisations have picked up so quickly is working remotely. This paper presents a comprehensive list of issues associated with managing the remote workforce and explores ideas for enhancing worker engagement. This article will discuss some particular issues faced by remote work: communication problems, team building, performance tracking, and productivity issues. Then, on the back of a large literature review and case studies, several experiences that businesses acquire through remote work follow. Communication improves significantly from then on, enabling remote teams to work more effectively on their collaborative projects. Organisational culture and well-being of workers scored high, as pointed out by this study. Virtual team building, relaxed work rules, and tailored employee recognition practices all contribute positively to employees' morale and engagement. The paper is on leading a virtual workforce. It defines all those styles of leadership which drive and energise virtual teams towards organisational goals. This holistic review of remote workforce management problems and solutions will ensure that businesses respond better to this new working style through added value and action-oriented answers.
