Impact of digital financial infrastructure in furthering financial inclusion in India

Abstract

Information technology and digital infrastructure have ushered in India's fourth industrial revolution. One of the most important aspects of providing digital services is digital identity, which has become possible after the implementation of biometric identification (Aadhaar). The goal of this study is to highlight the current state of the banking and mobile money industries. This article highlights India's success in digital adoption as well as points out areas that need to be improved to realise the goals of financial inclusion. The study also compares the current state of India/s financial inclusion to that of other SAARC and high-income nations. Financial inclusion is being hampered by a number of factors, including digital fraud and the difference in digital services between rural and urban areas, the report said. Financial integration, as well as strong digital security and financial literacy programs, can improve India/s financial stability and long-term prosperity.
