Abstract

The present study examines the mediating effect of organisational learning (OL) and organisational innovation (OI) between transformational leadership (TL) and organisational performance (OP) in Indian manufacturing companies. This paper also examines the relationships among TL, OL, OI and OP. The data comprise 362 managers from various manufacturing companies listed on the National Stock Exchange (NSE) of India. Structural equation modelling (SEM) was applied to examine the suggested hypothesised relationship. The results indicate that TL directly affects OL, OI, and OP and has a more substantial direct impact on OI than OL. Additionally, OI has a positive and significant effect on OP. Moreover, OL and OI significantly mediate the relationship between TL and OP. This study also tests TL with two mediating variables OL and OI with OP that have not been examined previously in theory and analysed empirically in an Indian context.
