Abstract

The field of macroeconomic variables and financial performance is ever evolving, and a wide array of research has illuminated this field for the last three decades. The present study explores the avenues of research dimensions in the macroeconomic variables and financial performance domain by synthesising the contributions of pioneering journals, authors, institutions, and countries. The authors have deployed bibliometric and network visualisation tools such as VoSViewer for analysing the bibliometric information obtained from the Scopus database. Analysis of 323 documents found in the dataset, published in 268 journals, revealed ten highly cited research articles, four clusters of keywords that substantiated the research field. The VoSviewer network visualisation has been depicted for each parameter. The study found that macroeconomic variables and financial performance, human literacy, education, and retirement constitute matured yet potential research areas to be undertaken by scholars of macroeconomic variables and financial performance.
