Abstract

Energy efficient buildings are critically important in addressing climate change and helps in sustainable development. A Trombe wall designed and developed at rural energy centre (REC) has taken for analysis. The air vent velocity of the Trombe wall structure analysed shows that, the air vent velocity during cloudy condition is less than during moderate conditions. The result shows that Trombe wall can play a vital role changing air inside a building. The second part consist of thermal analysis of conventional brick wall building and hollow brick wall building which shown a temperature difference of 2.8°C. The result shows that conventional brick wall is more thermally resistant while comparing hollow brick wall for a place like Dindigul in Tamil Nadu. The result shows the role of solar passive heating/cooling technique and energy efficient building material in saving energy.
