Abstract

This paper explores entrepreneurship within the Finnish games industry. This topic is approached with the evolutionary framework where the entrepreneur is the driving force creating variation by introducing new firms and new products. Within such a creative industry, most employees provide entrepreneurial services in terms of creating novelty, introducing new ideas and participating in deciding which ideas to follow. This means that entrepreneurship is a social and interactive process which entails both bargaining and learning. However, the space in which each employee may practise his/her discretion is limited and it seems that doing this allocation well is a crucial condition for the success of the firm. The direction of the firm emerges from the interaction of managers and workers.
