Abstract

This study aims to examine the resources for entrepreneurs in poverty conditions (EiPCs) in their journey to entrepreneurial opportunity development. This study is guided by the perspective of bricolage theory (BT) in understanding entrepreneurs who engage in opportunity development despite limited resources. Based on a multiple case study approach, this study explores the utilisation of resources of 15 entrepreneurs engaging in farming, household work and scavenging opportunities. The results show that as entrepreneurs with limited resources, EiPCs optimise various bricolage resources that are available at hand in their opportunity development. The findings in this study shaped the model of bricolage resources for EiPCs, which contributes to the discussion of entrepreneurship in limited conditions, an emerging discourse in the field. For practice, this study's findings may assist policymakers in their efforts in local poverty alleviation and EiPCs by outlining the opportunity development of entrepreneurs operating with limited resources.
