Abstract

This study explores the critical role of digital transformation in enhancing competitiveness and growth among small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). The research employs a quantitative methodology, including a structured survey administered to 300 SMEs in Uttar Pradesh, India. The findings reveal that digital transformation initiatives significantly enhance revenue, customer satisfaction, and cost efficiency. SMEs leveraging digital platforms and marketing strategies report superior operational outcomes compared to those that do not. This underlines the potential of digital technologies as a transformative force in enabling SMEs to compete effectively and drive innovation. The originality of this research lies in its focus on SMEs in a developing region, offering fresh insights into how digital adoption impacts their performance and growth trajectories. While previous studies have concentrated on developed economies, this work addresses a critical gap by examining unique enablers and barriers faced by SMEs in emerging markets. The implications extend to policymakers, who are encouraged to design supportive frameworks that facilitate SME digitisation, and to businesses aiming to enhance their competitive positioning.
