Abstract

Generally, it is well acknowledged in most articles that SMEs have contributed in various ways in the area of economic and social enhancement, particularly in developing countries, such as Malaysia. Since most SME owner-managers in these developing countries still lack the necessary education and experience, various agencies, such as the government, educational institutions and other related parties, have been providing continuous training programmes to ensure the survival and success of these SMEs. Hence, interest in the education of SMEs and training development research continues to flourish. Thus, based on the literature, this paper will discuss related issues in the development of the training programme curriculum for SME owner-managers. In addition, this paper will discuss the development of the current training programme curriculum for SME owner-managers in Malaysia.
