Investment aid as a catholicon for regional development in Slovakia?

Abstract

The Slovak Republic may provide the state aid strictly following European Union regulations. Public financial resources of the EU member states are approved for entrepreneurial entities after fulfilling terms explicitly constituted in the EU related to the state aid. Implementing international rules of investment protection and investment support have led to increased foreign direct investments and other foreign investment forms flowing to Slovakia having a positive impact on its economic growth. The objective of this paper emphasising an interdisciplinary focus, (geographic economy, law, finance) highlights essential commensalism of the law via necessity of high quality legislation to secure a safe environment to attract foreign investors to do business in Slovakia. This scientific paper analyses, compares and assesses consequences of the state aid in chosen businesses of selected Slovak regions.
