Abstract

To meet the global competition and the survival of products in the market a new way of thinking is necessary in order to change and improve the existing technology and to develop products at economical price. Optimisation of the welding process parameters depends upon the ability to measure and control the process variables involved in the welding process. The scope of the paper is to model and optimise the parameters of submerged arc welding (SAW) using particle swarm optimisation technique. The model is developed in the MATLAB platform, which is highly reliable, adaptable and user friendly.
