Metaverse technology and its growing applications in advancing smart city and digital society: a review

Abstract

In this advanced century, immersive technology is the manifestation of modern progressive technology. Metaverse is the instance of immersive technology. It has multifarious operations and prospects in heterogeneous dimensions. In metaverse, natural things or entities is depicted in a computing platform virtually. Societal and economic flourishment is leading in accordance with the thrive of urbanisation. The eminence of the smart city is reinforced in context of the progressive epoch. Innovation of smart cities stands with the inception of state-of-the-art technology in distinct realms. Metaverse is involved in foundation of smart cities in collaboration with cutting-edge technologies. Facets of metaverse technology in smart city implementation are elaborated in this paper. This paper illustrates the future prospects and growth of metaverse technologies in multiple contexts of smart city foundation. Impact of metaverse technology on global economy and economic relation with smart city is illuminated in this paper.
