Abstract

The advent of digital healthcare technologies, integral to the ongoing digital revolution, has played a transformative role in reshaping the healthcare landscape in India. This development holds significant promise, as evidenced by the thoughtful implementation by policy planners within the Indian government over the years. Recognising the imperative to bridge the healthcare divide between rural and urban areas, the government has strategically embraced emerging digital healthcare technologies. These include electronic health records (EHRs), telemedicine, e-health systems, mobile health (m-health) apps, AI-driven health interventions, health information technology, and wearable healthcare devices leveraging internet of things (IoT) capabilities. This case study delves into the paradigm shift brought about by the adoption of digital healthcare technologies, analysing both the successes achieved and the challenges faced during the development and implementation of digital strategies.
