Abstract

The importance of supporting and encouraging a venture capital industry is integral for Mexico's economic development and financial stability. The focus of this paper is to discuss the current venture capital situation in Mexico. The approach is to provide an overall understanding of the key mechanisms that develop or impede the financing of small and medium-sized enterprises in Mexico. Thus, this paper analyses Mexico's economic status, financial sector, current regulatory framework, changes in the industry, and how each correlate with the current and future Mexican venture capital industry.
