Empowering the poor through microcredit

Abstract

With the epidemic of poverty spreading throughout the world, effective measures must be taken to eradicate poverty. Since one of the prevailing constraints on the poor is the lack of resources and credit, access to microcredit is an effective tool in this battle against sub-standard living conditions and exploitation. With credit, the poor, especially women, are able to become entrepreneurs that create and grow sustainable microenterprises. This generates wealth and well being for the individual, their families and the overall community.
