Abstract

This paper analyses the necessity of coupling development between strategic emerging and traditional industries as well as its logical structure in time and space. A model, which includes the index system of coupling evaluation, the coupling degree of association model and the sustainable development model that evaluates coupling development, is constructed. The model is used to conduct an empirical study of the environmental industry and rubber manufacturing industry. Results indicate that China's environmental industry and rubber manufacturing industry are in the developmental state of moderate coupling and mild recession. Finally, some policy recommendations are summarised.
