Abstract

International comparisons of healthcare systems are usually performed using subjective methods available in the literature. As a result, it is difficult to obtain standard rankings for countries. A mathematical evaluation method based on the concept of Pareto-optimal organisation is proposed for this paper. The method is simple and uses a linear programming model. The weights for various measurements are chosen by an objective method and are standard. The method is illustrated with real data from a sample of OECD member countries.
