Abstract

The occurrence of COVID-19 pandemic mostly affected tourism, and the adoption of innovative mechanism is inevitable in this industry. Therefore, this study aims to provide a conceptual framework of co-innovation which can guide tourism practitioners in the implementation process. It is based on a comprehensive literature review of the co-innovation platform model and frameworks in creative tourism. The frameworks from selected publications are evaluated and synthesised to develop a complete conceptual model. Furthermore, the study addresses the primary constructs and possible outcomes of co-innovation platforms in creative tourism by synthesising previous findings in innovation and tourism. It recommends that creative tourism stakeholders conduct co-innovation in their destinations by implementing the four foundation pillars: convergence, collaboration, co-creation of experiences, and co-capture.
