Strategy and organisational learning in multinational corporations: a game theory approach

Abstract

Based on organisational learning theory and game theory analyses, this study reveals that an MNC can adopt a globally integrative strategy to increase product quality and reduce costs. It can also adopt a locally responsive strategy to improve new product development projects in local markets and enhance the quality of new products. Concerning the evolution of MNC strategies over time, it is easier and less risky to adopt a globally integrative strategy at the beginning and then shift to a transnational strategy to balance exploitation and exploration.
