Exploring the role of financial inclusion in development of an economy through bibliometric approach

Abstract

Financial inclusion (FI) concern with providing financial assistance to those sectors which are far from the reach of banking services. The emergence of microcredit initiatives in the 1970s spurred the concept of financial inclusion, which garnered significant attention and momentum in the early 2000s. The study's main goal is to analysis, identifies prominent authors, publishers, and publication patterns in the field of financial inclusion. A bibliometric study was conducted on a sample of 706 works in the topic of financial inclusion. The research utilised a scientific search strategy on the Scopus database, covering the years 2007 to 2022. The web-based application Biblioshiny, part of the Bibliometrix package and created in R, were used for the investigation. The findings provide valuable insights for researchers, offering a roadmap for further exploration in the area of financial inclusion. This study contributes important information to enhance academic understanding in the domain.
