Abstract

While tourism marketing has been extensively explored in the literature due to its significant socio-economic impact worldwide, this study examines the integration of ecotourism with sustainable practices within tourism marketing. We explore the dynamic relationship between tourism and sustainable development through a systematic literature review (SLR) conducted over the past 22 years. The primary objective is to synthesise academic discussions, focusing on how ecotourism is intertwined with sustainable marketing strategies and the resulting socio-economic and environmental impacts. The results reveal substantial thematic coherence across the literature, emphasising the enhancement of local communities, mitigation of environmental impacts, and advancement toward global sustainability goals. The findings provide key insights and practical recommendations, particularly for policymakers and industry stakeholders, aiming to develop effective strategies and public policies that promote sustainable growth in tourism by leveraging ecotourism practices.
