Abstract

This article examines the competitiveness of the Russian manufacturing industry. The study uses secondary data and follows the development of selected indicators in the Russian manufacturing industry. The selection of indicators is based on a literature review of measuring competitiveness. The main indicators are production, productivity, unit labour costs, and exports to European Union markets. The main data source is the industrial database of The Vienna Institute for International Economic Studies (WIIW). This data has been used to make calculations to identify the effects of selected indicators on the competitiveness of the manufacturing industry. The results of the study show that the Russian manufacturing industry is in a difficult situation. Most Russian industries face problems in improving their competitiveness and competing in domestic and international markets.
