Determinants impacting Fintech adoption: a case study of the Indian MSME sector

Abstract

Fintech usage in India has increased to 87% in 2019, up from 52% in 2017. India's Fintech industry is being propelled forward by rising internet usage and better digital infrastructure. The purpose of this paper is to examine the most influential factor impacting the intention of small business units for adopting financial technology. The behavioural intention of MSMEs is measured with TAM and UTAUT models. The paper was based on a descriptive and inferential research design for which original data is collected. Questions were asked of the owners and managers of MSMEs. Facilitating conditions and subjective norms influenced financial technology adoption, whereas the original TAM variables such as perceived ease of use and perceived usefulness were found to be insignificant in the case of MSMEs.
