Abstract

Virtual teamwork has become an increasingly popular way of working within and between global organisations. This study examined team members' perceptions of trust, team communication, information sharing, cultural diversity and their relationships with global virtual team success. Data was collected from 122 respondents via an online survey. The findings showed that the best predictor of global virtual team success is trust, followed by information sharing. An analysis of the qualitative data collected from the survey reinforced the importance of trust and information sharing as important predictors of virtual team success. The findings highlight important insights for managers and leaders of global virtual teams. Further discussion and implications are provided.
