Abstract

This research article attempts to study the influence of human resource practices, namely work environment, compensation, training and development and organisational support, on faculty's intention to stay. A survey was conducted using convenience sampling method wherein 150 questionnaires were distributed to faculty members working in higher education management institutes in Delhi, India. The completed questionnaires that could be used for analysis were of 102 respondents. Data analysis was carried out using descriptive statistics, categorical regression, part and partial correlation. Compensation depicted most significant influence on faculty's intention to stay with the institution. Work environment and training and development also exhibited a positive correlation with intention to stay. The study highlights the need for education institutes to focus on providing a healthy work environment, competitive compensation and skill development of faculty members, leading to an enhanced research and teaching, which thereby would help institutions to grow and progress in management education.
