Improving automobile technical personnel's goal commitment: investigation of managerial actions based on individual potentials

Abstract

In an automobile company, improving for the employee's goal commitment is one of the crucial issues for recently highly competitive environment. This paper analyses the incentives and disincentives for automobile technical personnel's goal commitment. Through the quality and quantity investigation of 63 technical personnel in a large Japanese automobile company, the author reveals six incentives and five disincentives. In addition, this paper considers managerial actions to improve goal commitment based on a subordinates' potential. The author worked with six technical managers and applied management to 58 automobile technical personnel. As the result, we found that our managerial actions contributed to realising fruitful communication between managers and subordinates and increasing employees' goal commitments including work motivation from the data of corporate morale survey.
