Abstract

Leadership plays a crucial role in fostering a strong sense of attachment among employees. Effective leadership enhances employee job embeddedness by promoting a friendly and supportive work environment. This study aims to explore the role of leadership in enhancing employee job embeddedness by reviewing several publications that examined the relationship between different leadership styles and employee job embeddedness. Employing a descriptive research approach, the study reviewed 52 journal articles to explore this relationship. The findings reveal that, with the exception of narcissistic leadership and the authoritarian aspects of paternalistic leadership, various leadership styles positively influenced employee job embeddedness, either directly or indirectly through the mediating variables. This research significantly contributes to the existing body of knowledge by extensively discussing the role of various leadership styles in enhancing employee job embeddedness. It will assist organisations and decision makers in choosing the most suitable leadership style to significantly boost employee job embeddedness and offer a framework for future research.
