Abstract

This paper presents a unique contribution to financial and accounting research through a retrospective overview of 20 years of research by Professor Khaled Hussainey. This bio-bibliometric review assesses the performance trends and intellectual structure of Professor Khaled Hussainey's research based on his 128 peer-reviewed papers retrieved from the Scopus database between 2001 and July 2022. His work, published in prestigious accounting and finance journals, has significantly contributed to four research clusters identified within the Gioia method: corporate disclosure, financial and accounting strategies, strategy and management practices, and Islamic finance. These insights into accounting and financial literature are valuable for academics and board professionals seeking to improve disclosure practices. Future directions are also systematically identified through a retrospective analysis of his publications. Finally, the paper underscores the importance of bibliometric methods in recognising researchers who advance theoretical and empirical aspects of a topic.
