Abstract

Las empresas multinacionales crean equipos multiculturales para proporcionar una coordinación eficiente y un aprendizaje global. Sin embargo, la diversa procedencia nacional de los individuos puede incrementar los conflictos y los problemas en el proceso de toma de decisiones. En este contexto, esta investigación examina el papel que juega la cultura corporativa para facilitar la gestión de los conflictos en estos equipos por dos razones básicas: (i) el reconocimiento de su poder como pegamento social para superar la influencia de las diferentes nacionalidades que interactúan en las organizaciones multinacionales; y (ii) la falta de investigación empírica que explore ampliamente esta relación. / Multinational companies create multicultural teams to promote efficient coordination and overall learning. However, the multicultural character provides teams with different national values that make it difficult to find common interpretative schemes, and increase conflicts and problems in the decision taking process. Considering these arguments, this research examines the role played by corporate culture in facilitating conflict management in multicultural teams for two basic reasons: (i) the wide knowledge of its power as social glue to overcome the influence of different nationalities interacting in multinational organizations; and (ii) the lack of empirical research exploring that relationship in depth.
