Abstract

La creencia de que la intensidad exportadora de las empresas puede estar ocasionada por barreras internas ha generado un cuerpo de investigación sobre la influencia de las características de los directivos responsables del área internacional (DRAI) en el inicio de las operaciones de exportación, la adopción de un papel activo en la intensificación de las exportaciones o el logro de un mayor rendimiento internacional. Nuestro estudio revisa las investigaciones empíricas sobre el efecto de las características de los DRAI en el rendimiento exportador de sus empresas. Las investigaciones consideradas fueron realizadas en empresas industriales entre 1960 y 2004. / There is an extense body of research proposing that export intensity may be conditioned by internal barriers. The characteristics of the International Marketing Managers (IMM) and their effect in the first step of internationalization, the proactive role in the international advance, or the achievement of a better international performance, are among the most analyzed factors. Our study rewiews empirical research on the effect of the IMM characteristics on their firms´ export performance. The analized studies were published between 1960 and 2004.
