Australia and India: Opportunities for Bilateral Investment Flows

Abstract

The paper analyzes the foreign investment climate, incentives, policies and the institutional framework in Australia. It also presents the size and composition of the bilateral investment flows between these two countries. The paper identifies the areas for Australian investment in India. These include IT, Knowledge-based industries, telecommunications, financial services, environment, mining, oil and gas, agribusiness and Infrastructure. Likewise the opportunities for Indian investments in Australia are software, hotels and restaurants, banking and other services. The paper concludes with remedial measures for increasing the investment flows between these countries.
