Role and Objectives of Pension Management as Integral Component of Domestic Pension System Formation

Abstract

Implementation of each stage of pension reform aimed at formation of optimal pension system in Ukraine requires proper governance in the field of pension provision. The article provides the study of prerequisites for pension management formation, determining its main objectives and role in the national pension system formation and development. While reasoning the assertion that the pension management arose from the evolution of management, the author makes an attempt to define the economic category of 'pension management' and outlines its main tasks in pension provision. According to the author, the prerequisite for pension management formation and development is the need for: qualified professional management within the pension insurance system, ensuring effective use of pension assets of pension insurance participants, coordinating activities of agents of three-level national pension system. The research has highlighted close interrelation between pension management and risk management that provides for the requirement to improve the activity of specialized financial institutions exercising pension risks control.
