Abstract

"Wer Bürgergeld bezieht, macht sich häufig Sorgen, seine aktuelle Wohnung zu verlieren. Dies hat die Online-Personenbefragung „Arbeiten und Leben in Deutschland“ (IAB-OPAL) des IAB ergeben. Um diese Sorgen zu Beginn des Leistungsbezugs zu mindern und den Betroffenen mehr Zeit für die Jobsuche zu geben, wurde mit dem Bürgergeld die „Karenzzeit Wohnen“ eingeführt. Demnach werden die Kosten der Unterkunft im ersten Jahr des Leistungsbezugs ohne Prüfung der Angemessenheit erstattet. Die Bewertung dieser Regelung durch Jobcenter-Beschäftigte fällt allerdings eher verhalten aus." (Autorenreferat, IAB-Doku)
