Abstract

"Das Bürgergeld in seiner derzeitigen Form ist heftig umstritten. Viele Debattenbeiträge zeichnen dabei ein verengtes und teilweise unzutreffendes Bild. Denn die Vielschichtigkeit der Problemlagen von Menschen im Bürgergeldbezug wird oftmals verkannt. Anders als vielfach behauptet, haben Menschen, die nur Bürgergeld beziehen, in jedem Fall weniger Geld zur Verfügung als Menschen, die arbeiten. Trotz des Arbeitskräftemangels gelingt allerdings zu selten die Vermittlung in Beschäftigung – auch weil die Leistungsberechtigten häufig nicht zu den Profilen der offenen Stellen passen."
