Abstract

"Gabriela Spanghero Lotta, Professor of Public Administration and Government at Getulio Vargas Foundation (FGV) in São Paulo, Brazil, gives a Special Lecture at the IAB on 5 February 2024. In this accompanying interview, Lotta explores the dynamics of citizen-state interactions in Latin America, outlines the role of frontline workers in dealing with – and being embedded within – situations of vulnerability, and discusses the consequences of eroding trust for the rise of populism."
