Abstract

"Große Sozialreform, alter Wein in neuen Schläuchen, oder gar ein Rückschritt gegenüber der früheren Grundsicherung? Am sogenannten Bürgergeld scheiden sich noch immer die Geister. Ampel und Union hatten sich nach zähem Ringen auf die neue Leistung verständigt, die in wesentlichen Teilen zum 1.1.2023 und in Gänze dann zum 1.7.2023 in Kraft trat – und damit das bis zuletzt sehr umstrittene „Hartz IV“ ablöste. Während die Bundesregierung von „mehr Chancen und mehr Respekt“ spricht, stellen andere die Frage, ob sich Arbeiten für Geringverdienende überhaupt noch lohnt. Wieder anderen geht die Reform nicht weit genug, sie halten auch das Bürgergeld keineswegs für armutsfest." (Autorenreferat, IAB-Doku)
