Abstract

"Mit der Alterung der Bevölkerung schrumpft auch das Potenzial an Arbeitskräften. Ostdeutschland ist davon besonders stark betroffen. Das liegt einerseits an den niedrigen Geburtenzahlen in den ersten Jahren nach dem Mauerfall, andererseits an der verstärkten Abwanderung der zwischen 1975 und 1989 Geborenen. Die Zahl der zu versorgenden Personen wird daher im Verhältnis zur Zahl der Erwerbspersonen künftig deutlich steigen. Diese Entwicklung kann nur durch mehr Zuwanderung gebremst werden."
