Abstract

"In politischen Debatten um Verteilungsgerechtigkeit steht oft die Lohnungleichheit auf der gesamtwirtschaftlichen Ebene im Vordergrund. Neue Auswertungen mit IAB-Daten zeigen, dass Lohnentgelte nicht nur zwischen Regionen, sondern auch innerhalb von Regionen erheblich variieren können. Urbane Regionen weisen dabei im Durchschnitt eine höhere Lohnungleichheit auf als ländliche Gebiete, denn in den Ballungsräumen sind sowohl Akademiker als auch ausländische Beschäftigte überrepräsentiert."
