Abstract

"Pedro Martins ist ein Grenzgänger zwischen Wissenschaft und Politik. Denn Martins, der heute als Ökonomieprofessor an der Queen-Mary-Universität in London forscht, war von 2011 bis 2013 Staatssekretär im Wirtschafts- und Arbeitsministerium seines Heimatlandes Portugal - also zu einer Zeit, in der die Arbeitslosigkeit, insbesondere die Jugendarbeitslosigkeit, in ganz Südeuropa als Folge der Wirtschafts- und Finanzkrise von Rekord zu Rekord eilte. Damit eröffnete sich für ihn die einmalige Chance, als Politiker Maßnahmen zur Bekämpfung der Jobmisere umzusetzen, die er als Forscher selbst immer wieder gefordert hatte. Im Interview für das IAB-Forum spricht er über seine Einschätzungen und Erfahrungen." (Autorenreferat, IAB-Doku)
