Abstract

"Über die Einführung eines allgemeinen gesetzlichen Mindestlohns wurde in Politik und Wissenschaft jahrelang kontrovers diskutiert. Seit dem 1.1.2015 sind Arbeitgeber nunmehr verpflichtet, ihren Beschäftigten mindestens 8,50 Euro pro Stunde zu bezahlen. Im Vorfeld wurde von manchen kritisiert, dass der Mindestlohn insbesondere die Jobchancen von Langzeitarbeitslosen und Geringqualifizierten mindere. Ein Teil der Befürworter hingegen erhoffte sich vom Mindestlohn einen deutlichen Rückgang der Zahl der Aufstocker und ein Mittel gegen Lohndumping und Altersarmut. Was hat der Mindestlohn tatsächlich gebracht? Über die bisherigen Forschungsbefunde des IAB zu diesem Thema haben wir mit dessen Direktor Joachim Möller gesprochen." (Autorenreferat, IAB-Doku)
