Abstract

"In the European Union, Germany and Ireland have been the worst hit by the economic crisis. With a reduction in gross domestic product in 2009 of five to six percent, a sharp decline has been forecast which has not been seen before in the history of the German Federal Republic. This was initially triggered by the crisis on the real estate market in the United States. Very soon, however, it turned into a financial and economic crisis of global magnitude."
