Abstract

"In times of crisis on the global economic and financial markets, people are very afraid of sliding down the social ladder. Often social decline is directly related to professional change. Many people were forced to reorientate their working life after the collapse of the economy of the GDR. Did a permanent trend towards more downwards mobility result from this? And is eastern Germany more strongly affected nowadays than western Germany?" (Author's abstract, IAB-Doku) ((en))
