Lohnlücke - Dem kleinen Unterschied auf der Spur

Abstract

Die Sekundäranalyse von Studien zu Veränderungen des Lohnunterschieds zwischen Männern und Frauen (1990-2001 auf Basis der IAB-Beschäftigtenstichprobe) sowie zu Löhnen und Beschäftigung auf der Basis der niedersächsischen Gehalts- und Lohnstrukturerhebung ergibt Begründungen dafür, warum in den 1990er Jahren die Frauen in Deutschland den Verdienstrückstand zu den Männern teilweise aufgeholt haben. Der Lohnrückstand verringerte sich von 36 Prozent (1991) auf 29 Prozent (2001). Die Annäherung der Löhne wird auf die Verbesserung des Humankapitals von Frauen, auf niedrigere Produktivitätsunterschiede sowie auf eine niedrigere Diskriminierung zurückgeführt. Bei konstanter Lohnstruktur, also gleichen Ertragsraten des Humankapitals und gleich bleibender Streuung der Arbeitseinkommen wäre der Lohnabstand sogar um 10 bis 11 Prozentpunkte zurück gegangen.
