Abstract

In den späten 1970er Jahren, nach Beendigung der Militärdiktatur, begann sich die griechische Volkswirtschaft - für viele Ökonomen überraschend - den Volkswirtschaften der damaligen Europäischen Wirtschaftsgemeinschaft (EWG) anzunähern. Und dies trotz der zahlreichen administrativen und strukturellen Hindernisse, welche die wirtschaftliche Wachstumsentwicklung vieler makroökonomischer Fundamentalgrößen Griechenlands beeinträchtigten. Nichtsdestotrotz war die durchschnittliche Wachstumsrate des Bruttoinlandsprodukts (BIP) bis Anfang der 1980er Jahre höher als die entsprechende durchschnittliche Wachstumsrate der Länder der EWG. Dies bedeutete aber nicht, dass die griechische Volkswirtschaft keine strukturellen Probleme hatte. "
