Abstract

In Vanuatu wird der Raum als Resultat sekularisierter geistiger Macht erfasst. Gewisse Strukturen der natürlichen Umwelt fördern die Kollektivität. Die Reise mit „Canoe“ wird zum Zufluchtsversuch zur unendlichen Zeit instrumentalisiert, um die Machtlosigkeit auszugleichen. Der ehemalige Zwang des Kolonialismus ist in Abenteuer durch Initiationsreisen umgewandelt worden. Die lange Tradition zur Identitätsstiftung durch die konstruierte Räumlichkeit verstärkt die nationale Identität von Vanuatu. Entscheidend dafür war der Zusammenhang zwischen räumlicher und zeitlicher Dimension. Die Mobilitätsmöglichkeiten der Frauen sind ziemlich beschränkt, da sie mit der räumlichen Dimension verbunden sind. Diese naturbasierende Identitätsbildung kann als eine informelle sozialisationseffektive Umweltbildung in dieser nicht-westlichen Kultur betrachtet werden.
