Abstract

Dieser Essay nimmt eingangs Bezug auf den Begriff des Nationalstaats im Rahmen der Europaischen Integration. Zum Beispiel, was bedeutet die europaische Staatsangehorigkeit, welche der Vertrag fur die Verfassung der Europaischen Union festsetzt. Es stellt sich die Frage: Kann der Nationalstaats von sich aus das Problem der Minoritaten losen oder kann im Rahmen der Europaischen Union die Losung erleichtert werden? Unter diesem Gesichtspunkt wird die Situation des griechischen Staates, eines Mitglieds der Europaischen Union, dargestellt. Griechenland ist ein typischer Nationalstaat, ausgenommen Thrakien und Ostmakedonien, Regionen an der nordostlichen Staatsgrenze zur Turkei. In beiden Regionen, hauptsachlich in den Prafekturen von Xanthi und Rodopi lebt eine registrierte muslimische Minderheit. In diesem Aufsatz sollen die okonomischen und sonstigen Charakteristika dieser Region dargestellt werden. Gleichfalls soll eine ausfuhrliche Beschreibung der Bedingungen des Zusammenlebens von Christen und Musli
