Wirtschaftliches Wachstum: Fetisch oder Notwendigkeit

Abstract

Der Beitrag gibt einen sich vor allem an den Nichtspezialisten wendenden theoriegeschichtlichen Abri▀ der Theorie des wirtschaftlichen Wachstums. Der Anla▀ hierf³r ist der beachtliche Wiederaufschwung der Wachstumstheorie und empirischen Wachtsumsforschung im vergangenen Jahrzehnt. Eine der Fragen lautet: Was ist neu an der "neuen Wachstumstheorie"? Gestreift werden die klassischen akkumulations-, wachtsums- und verteilungstheoretischen Ansõtze eines Adam Smith und David Ricardo, die Theorie Keynes' und der Keynesianer, die neoklassische Theorie Robert Solows sowie einige der Hauptargumente der "neuen" Wachstumstheorie. Besondere Beachtung wird den unterschiedlichen Erklõrungen der langfristigen Tendenz der Profitrate geschenkt. Letztere, so die ³bereinstimmende Auffassung der behandelten Ansõtze, ist die Hauptdeterminante der Akkumulations- und Wachtumsdynamik eines ÷konomischen Systems.
