Abstract

本稿では，近年の日本における著しい出生率の低下がなぜ生じたのかという点を，出生動向基本調査第10回の個票データを用いて分析した．特に，近年重要度が高まっている夫婦の出生率（合計結婚出生率）低下の要因に分析対象を絞った．その実証分析の結果によると，女性の就業率が高まったことはあまり出生率低下に影響を及ぼしておらず，むしろ夫の所得や住居に対する親からの経済援助などの金銭的要因の影響の方が強いことが示されたと考えられる．, In this paper, the causes of the recent fertility decline in Japan are analyzed empirically, using micro-data from the 10th National Fertility Survey (NFS). Particularly, the recent decline of total marital fertility is analyzed. The results of the instrumental variable estimations shows that financial variables such as husbands' income or parental support for housing have had decreased fertility, although the recent increase of female labor supply did not have much influence on it. These results are probably caused by the recent higher cost of raising and educating children in Japan.
