Abstract

BackgroundBased on ego depletion theory, this study investigates the mediating role of ego depletion in the relationship between mindfulness and self-management behaviors in inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) patients, providing a reference for improving self-management strategies.MethodsUsing convenience sampling, IBD inpatients from the gastroenterology department of a tertiary hospital in Suzhou were selected as participants. Data were collected through the General Information Questionnaire, Mindful State Questionnaire (MSQ), Ego Depletion Scale, and IBD Self-Management Behavior Questionnaire. Structural equation modeling (SEM) was applied to analyze the mediating effect of ego depletion between mindfulness and self-management behaviors.ResultsThe model fit well (CFI = 0.97, RMSEA = 0.08).
