Global Stability Analysis of a Brucellosis Transmission Model Using the Treatment Effect

Abstract

We formulate and study in this paper a deterministic compartmental model that explains the dynamics of the transmission of brucellosis from livestock to human populations. The model consists of five compartments: susceptible and infected livestock and susceptible, infected, and chronically infected human individuals. We get the basic R0 by using the next-generation matrix method and deduce threshold conditions governing the disease dynamics. Utilizing Lyapunov functions and LaSalle's invariance principle, we deduce thatR0 1is a condition for global stability of the endemic equilibrium. Our findings provide a theoretical basis for planning effective intervention strategies to avert and perhaps eradicate brucellosis in endemic regions.
